MCP-R is a commissioning program designed to provide outstanding enlisted Marines with the opportunity to serve as Marine Corps officers in the SMCR. Enlisted reserve Marines with an associate degree or more than 75 college credits can attend OCS and commission without a baccalaureate degree.
The four most common paths to becoming a Marine Officer are the Platoon Leaders Class (PLC), the Officer Candidate Course (OCC), the United States Naval Academy and the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC).
The requirements to even apply for MECEP and ECP are both very high. You need to be in the top 5-10% of your peers to even have a chance at it.
Air Force ROTCs Enlisted Commissioning Program (ECP) offers highly qualified, enlisted Airmen the opportunity to continue to hone their leadership skills and assume increased responsibility as commissioned officers.
This commissioning program is designed for outstanding enlisted Active Duty or Active Reserve Marines who have already earned their undergraduate degree. Marines selected for ECP will commission upon graduating Officer Candidate School (OCS) and report to The Basic School (TBS) shortly after.
