The State Office of Vital Records and the Probate Court Clerk provide certified copies of marriage records in Georgia. Marriage records for weddings conducted from June 1952 to August 1996 are available at the State Office, while the Probate Court issues copies of marriage records conducted before 1952 or after 1996.
Both parties must be present in order to obtain a marriage license. You will need proof of age, proof of divorce (if applicable), and a method of payment when applying for a marriage license. The signed marriage license should be returned to the probate court within 30 days of the ceremony.
In the State of Indiana, the marriage license can be issued on the same day of application. There is no waiting period. Both applicants must appear at the Clerks Office in person to complete the application. Once issued, the license is valid for 60 days.
COUPLE ONLY, no witnesses are required in Indiana. If you wish to have people attend, we will allow 2 WITNESSES ONLY.
There must be: (1) parties able to contract; (2) an actual contract of marriage; and (3) consummation by cohabitation in Georgia.
