Most airlines have a dedicated baggage desk within the baggage claims area. You may receive a Property Irregularity Report (also known as PIR.) You will also need to put in a written claim to the airline within seven days. Having a PIR is no guarantee that the airline will accept your claim.
The Property Irregularity Report is essential for processing a claim. To complete a PIR, you must notify us of an incident before you leave the arrivals area of the airport. The PIR contains three letters corresponding to the airport code where the claim was presented, followed by UX and 5 numbers (e.g., PMIUX12345).
A property inspection is meant to help purchasers make informed decisions about the property before they buy it; the inspection also helps sellers to know what, if any, parts of the property may require repair or replacement or are not up to building codes.
In addition, the insurance covers loss of and damage to checked-in luggage, provided that the insured has notified the incident to the airline company and has been given a receipt for the notification in the form of a Property Irregularity Report (P.I.R) issued by the airline company.
Property Irregularity Report (PIR) means a document that is drawn up by a baggage tracing agent at the airport in the presence of a passenger or a person authorized by the latter immediately after revealing the fact of delay, loss, missing items, any damage caused to the baggage as a result of the carriage.
