Facts and Figures. White Earth is comprised of approximately 9,188 people and is (55.5%) white with Native Americans making up the majority of the balance (43.8%). Over 31.7% of the population is under age 18. Over 14.6% is over the age of 65.
MCT is comprised of six of the seven Ojibwe bands and is a federally recognized tribal government that promotes and protects the member bands.
The Band has over 4,300 members. The Mille Lacs Band is one of six members of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, which was formed in 1934, during the Indian Reorganization Act.
The Mille Lacs Reservation is located in east central Minnesota. The tribal headquarters is near Onamia, Minnesota. The reservation was established by the 1855 Treaty. The Tribe owns approximately 16,000 acres of land located within four townships on the south end of Mille Lacs Lake.

Band members continue to follow traditional hunting and fishing practices. Powwows draw neighbors and friends to the Mille Lacs Reservation each summer, and traditional drum music is heard at dance and drum ceremonies held across the reservation.
