Who owns Liberty Reservoir?
The 9,200 acre Liberty Reservoir CWMA is owned by the City of Baltimore and is managed to protect the reservoir. The area is open to hiking, rowing or paddle boating, bird watching, horseback riding and nature photography year-round, and for archery hunting during a regulated season.
Why is Liberty Reservoir so low?
In early May, DPW Director Khalil Zaied said levels at Liberty Reservoir were at 4.5 feet, which was three feet lower than a comfortable level of 7.5 feet. The main reason is the dry weather in the spring and the beginning of summer, Zaied said. So were really at a 20-year low in terms of rain coming in.
Do you need a permit to kayak in Liberty Reservoir?
