Chill it, flavor it and drink it through a straw. If your prep is unflavored, you can add Crystal Light, Kool-Aid powder or mix it with water and lemon. However, stick with lemon, lime and orange flavors and avoid liquids with red or purple dye as they can interfere with colonoscopy results.
You can expect your first bowel movement to happen 1 to 2 hours after taking the first dose of PLENVU, so make sure you're near a bathroom. You may also feel some bloating or stomach discomfort.
Can I drink all of my prep the night before instead of waking up early in the morning to drink the 2nd half? No. Studies have shown that split dose preps (in which laxatives are taken the evening before and the morning of the procedure) produce better cleansing.
You don't only need to drink water; you can also have any clear liquid you choose. Remember, these are liquids you should drink in addition to your PLENVU bowel prep. These are not liquids you can use to mix with PLENVU. Do not drink alcohol, milk, red or purple colored liquids, or drinks containing pulp.
It is generally recommended to drink all bowel preparations slowly. Each dose of PLENVU® should be drunk slowly using small sips over at least 30 minutes. You can also take a short break from drinking PLENVU® if needed. Continue to drink PLENVU® once nausea and/or vomiting has subsided.
