Repeat violence is a pattern of violence that consists of two (2) or more instances of violence or violent behavior against the victim by the defendant. It is a result of the California legal system recognizing that certain types of behavior follow patterns of cyclical violence.
Definition. As defined in the Chapter 784, Florida Statutes, Repeat violence means two incidents of violence or stalking committed by the respondent, one of which must have been within six months of the filing of the petition, which are directed against the petitioner or the petitioners immediate family member.
Repeat violent offender means a person about whom both of the following apply: (1) The person has been convicted of * * * a felony of the first degree * * * a felony of the second degree that involved an attempt to cause serious physical harm to a person or that resulted in serious physical harm to a person.
Cycle of Violence. In a relationship the cycle of violence refers to repeated and dangerous acts of violence that follows a typical pattern no matter when it occurs or who is involved. The pattern, or cycle, repeats; each time the level of violence may increase.
Legal Definition Repeat violence means that two incidents of violence have been committed against you or a member of your immediate family by another person, one of which must have been within six months of filing this petition.
