You can pay with cash or coins when boarding a bus and when buying a ticket from a MAX ticket machine.
To pay, tap the green Hop reader at the MAX/WES station or inside the bus every time you board. You can tap with your phone or contactless credit card to pay the $2.80 Adult fare. Or, tap with a Hop card, virtual Hop card or Hop ticket.
By Cash. If you are taking a public bus and wish to pay using cash, you are encouraged to pay the exact fare, as no change will be given. You should also keep the bus ticket as proof of payment.
