Complete the Test of Basic Aviation Skills (TBAS) up to three times, with the third requiring a waiver from the applicant's wing commander or equivalent. Re-take the AFOQT and TBAS after 90 days compared to the previous 150-day requirement for the AFOQT and 180 days for the TBAS.
There are 48 questions. Participants are presented with auditory letters and numbers. They must squeeze the trigger when they hear any of the three or five specified numbers. The test lasts approximately three minutes.
You are permitted three attempts at least 90 days apart. TBAS scores remain valid indefinitely and are not superscored (so if you do worse on a second or third attempt, that is your new PCSM). To take the TBAS, you should have already taken the AFOQT or EPQT, or your PCSM will not be calculated.
Empirical evidence seems to indicate that a PCSM score of approximately 70 is now the highest achievable with no flying hours.
The TBAS test will be mentally challenging, and it is recommended that you get a good night's sleep before the test. If you experience some condition that is genuinely stressful, or if you are too ill/tired to take the TBAS, you will need to reschedule for another time. There is no penalty for rescheduling.

The TBAS consists of subtests that measure psychomotor skills, spatial ability, and multi-tasking aptitude. The test takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

All AFOQT sections (including rated) are superscored, the wait between AFOQT/TBAS attempts is 90 days, you can take the TBAS 3 times, group study is approved for your first AFOQT test, and 3rd attempt/AFOQT waivers are now easier to get (approved by AFROTC/CC).
TBAS Test/Retest Policy. Candidates are allowed 3 attempts at the TBAS test (a 4th attempt can be made with an approved waiver). TBAS tests must have a minimum of 90 days between attempts.
The PCSM score is calculated by merging results from the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test that judges general aptitude and knowledge of aviation, and a the results from a computerized psychomotor test battery known as the Test of Basic Aviation Skills.
