International clearance is a requirement under the World Rugby Regulations which apply to all countries that are members of World Rugby. A player or team is not eligible to play rugby in another country at any level until they have a valid international clearance.
In international rugby, there are four ways a player can qualify for a country: Birth country. Via parents or grandparents. Residency in the country (recently increased to 60 months from 36 months in 2022) 10 years of cumulative residency throughout life.
To apply for international clearance, please complete the ITC APPLICATION FORM. In order to obtain an ITC, The FA requires all the relevant information to be submitted by the registering club, including a copy of their ID.
