The overall range for this 24-item questionnaire is 0-96, with higher global scores indicating greater functional impairment. The six distinct subscales are calculated by summing up and then dividing by the number of non-missing items for that subscale. An overall mean score is also calculated.
BASIS-24 is intended for adults, ages 18 and older, and is appropriate for individuals who present a broad spectrum of symptoms and problems at all levels of care including inpatient, res- idential, partial and outpatient.
The BAVQ-R is a 35 item measure with items rated on a four-point scale from disagree (= 0) to strongly agree (= 3). Items 118 are intended to measure Omnipotence (6 items e.g. my voice is very powerful), Malevolence (6 items e.g. my voice is evil) and Benevolence (6 items e.g. my voice wants to protect me).
The consumer responds by selecting how often they are experiencing difficulty with a corresponding score of: 0 - No difficulty 1 - A little difficulty 2 - Moderate difficulty 3 - Quite a bit of difficulty 4 - Extreme difficulty Scoring of this measure is conducted through a proprietary, licenced algorithm.
The 24 items are scored using a weighted average algorithm that gives an overall score as well as scores for six subscales. The 24 items assess six major areas of difficulty and/or distress including: Depression/Functioning, Relationships, Self-Harm, Emotional Lability, Psychosis, and Substance Abuse.
