For vehicles that have been unclaimed on a landowners property for 30 days, an unclaimed notice (LT-260 form) must be filed with the N​. C. Division of Motor Vehicles​. Once the unclaimed notice has been processed (typically 30 days), an LT-262 form can be filed to declare intent to sell the vehicle.
The car is yours if its been left with no contact on your property for at least 30 days.
According to the North Carolina general statute, a vehicle left on public grounds for more than seven days or on someones property for two hours without the owners consent is considered abandoned.
If you want to claim ownership of an abandoned vehicle, you must do the following: Complete an Abandoned Vehicle Report. Schedule an inspection, and get in touch with an authorized third party. Mail the form along with a $10 processing fee.
In North Carolina, to replace a missing car title, complete the Title Application (Form MVR-1) and submit it to the DMV with a docHubd affidavit of lost title. Once the replacement title is issued, you can transfer ownership by completing the title assignment section and paying applicable fees.
