Students must be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) to continue to be eligible for federal student aid. Satisfactory academic progress requirements generally include maintaining a grade of C or better and passing enough classes to graduate within 150% of the normal timeframe.
If you fail to meet SAP standards, you will be placed on financial aid restriction. Students on financial aid restriction are not eligible to receive Federal, state, or institutional financial aid. However, you may be eligible to receive private (alternative) loans, which can be found here.
Your cumulative GPA must be a minimum of 2.0 after successfully completing 60 credits or your fourth term of enrollment, whichever comes first.
Specify Your Situation Please be as specific as possible. Keep in mind you will need to provide 3rd party documentation in support of the reasons given. Explain how the situation affected you and what about the situation caused you not to meet SAP requirements.
(Appeals without documentation are generally denied.

Students must maintain a fixed, cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 when the SAP evaluation is completed after each semester of enrollment. The financial aid GPA is computed by dividing the total number of grade points by the total credit hours in which grades were earned at Sinclair.
If a student attempts more than 150% of the credits required for their degree then they will fail SAP and become ineligible for any further federal financial aid. Appeals for exceeding the 150% maximum time frame are only granted in very extenuating cases. Example: 120 credit Bachelors degree x 150% = 180 credits.
Valid reasons for an appeal include: medical emergencies. severe health issues. severe personal or family problems. financial or personal catastrophe. return for a second degree or certificate.
