When the position continues longer than six weeks, it's generally considered a long-term job.
The Government of Quebec has given the task of administering its occupational health and safety plan to the Commission de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (the CSST).
You must pay your CNESST occupational health and safety insurance premium to Revenu Québec via periodic instalments, at the same time as your source deductions and employer contributions. To do so, you must use the remittance slips containing a box for payments to the CNESST sent to you by Revenu Québec.
Wages must be paid to workers at regular intervals of no more than 16 days or a maximum of one month in the case of managers or contract workers. In the case of a new hire, the employer has 1 month to pay the worker their first wages. Wages may be paid : by cheque cashable within 2 working days.
A self-employed person may be considered a worker by the CNESST. This means they are covered by their client in the event of a work accident or occupational disease. They are not entitled to other employee benefits, such as paid vacation and sick leave. However, they are entitled to pay equity.
