A qualifying individual, or qualifier, is a person listed in the California Contractors State License Boards (CSLB) records who meets the experience and examination requirements set by the CSLB and is responsible for the compliance of the contracting business with state regulations.
In California, every contractors license must have a qualifying individual-commonly called a qualifier. This person is the official gatekeeper of your license, responsible for ensuring the business follows state construction laws and regulations.
A sole owner license may be reassigned to another individual, if all of the following conditions exist. The individual is an immediate family member of the licensed individual. The licensed individual is deceased or absent.
The Law: Licenses Are Not Transferable In California, contractor licenses are strictly regulated by the Contractors State License Board (CSLB). Each license is issued to a specific individual or legal entity and is absolutely non-transferable.
To reinstate your license, you must file an Application for Original Contractors License. If your license was revoked, suspended, or has been expired over five (5) years you must file an original application, and take and pass the law and trades portion of the written examination.
