Federal law requires any person who applies or supervises the use of restricted use pesticides (RUPs) to be certified in ance with EPA regulations and state, territorial and tribal laws. Pesticide applicators must know how to apply RUPs properly and effectively.
6. Registration fee; programs funded. The applicant desiring to register a pesticide must pay an annual registration fee of $215 for each pesticide registered for that applicant.
Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) - Requires all pesticides sold or distributed in the United States (including imported pesticides) to be registered by EPA. Registration is based on evaluation of scientific data and assessment of risks and benefits of a products use.
Baitfish (as defined) and rainbow smelt are the only fish species that may be used as bait (live or dead) for fishing in Maines inland waters. Note: Not all waters permit the use of live fish as bait (or dead fish as bait) please review General Fishing Laws and Special Fishing Laws.
Licenses are obtained by submitting an application for an agricultural basic pesticide applicator license and $15 to the BPC. Core exams are offered through county offices of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension (UMCE).
