All pets should be brought to a security checkpoint in a hand-held travel carrier. Remove the pet from the carrier just prior to the beginning of the screening process. Place the empty travel carrier on the checkpoint conveyor belt so it can be X-rayed. Never place a pet in the X-ray tunnel.
All pets must have all necessary vaccinations and documentation, ID tags, and a pet license. If traveling to the Dominican Republic or the Bahamas a health certificate, issued from a licensed veterinarian, is required. A rabies certificate may also be required. Some states require additional health documents.
You must have a certificate of veterinary assessment to take a trip. Some airlines will ask that you bring an acclimation certificate. A federally accredited veterinarian must sign these certificates.
