Established on May 6, 1860, the Olympic Club is Americas oldest athletic club. It has a total of 11,000 members, showcasing 19 different sports with two main clubhouses and a total of 45 holes of golf.
There is a per-day charge for Guest Cards. Guest Cards for Bay Area residents are valid only one (1) day per month. Guests from outside of the Bay Area or reciprocal club members may use the Club facilities a maximum of seven (7) consecutive days per visit; a maximum of thirty (30) days per calendar year.

The Lake Course remains true to the 1927 design with minimal renovations in the intervening years. Prior to the 1955 U.S. Open, the Club brought the USGAs official course architect, Robert Trent Jones Sr., to toughen the Lake Course for competition.
It will be the fifth Open held at the Olympic Club. The most recent Open at the Olympic Club was in 1998, won by Lee Janzen. Other Open winners at Olympic were Jack Fleck in 1955, Billy Casper in 1966 and Scott Simpson in 1987. The Olympic Club will also be the site of the 2007 U.S. Amateur.
