Why did SaveThisLife shut down?

According to AAHA Chief Value Officer Keith Chamberlain, AAHA removed Save This Life a few days ago after it came to light that searches for the company were failing.

Is the pet microchip database shut down?

The American Animal Hospital Association says the microchip registry of Save This Life abruptly closed and their database is gone. Animal hospitals have been using microchips from Save This Life for years. Dr. Mike Grace, from Flying Cloud Animal Hospital, says the chips still work and are safe.
