Traffic Safety Specialist Designation I A Traffic Safety Specialist I is designed to recognize an officer with specialized training relating to highway safety and traffic enforcement methods and procedures.
The New Jersey State Police Academy is located in Sea Girt, New Jersey, and training consists of approximately 24 weeks.
The Special Officer Class II consists of over 460 hours of training mandated by the Police Training Commission. This course covers similar material as the basic class. The accelerated summer training begins in May and ends in June. The course runs eleven weeks, Monday through Saturday from 6:30am to 5:30pm.
