(i) For lines rated 50 kV. or below minimum clearance between the lines and any part of the crane or load shall be 10 feet; (ii) For lines rated over 50 kV., minimum clearance between the lines and any part of the crane or load shall be 10 feet plus 0.4 inch for each 1 kV.
Always maintain a distance of at least 10 feet from overhead lines and more than 10 feet if the voltage to ground is over 50 kilovolts (50,000 volts).
This provision requires that equipment be operated so that a clearance of 10 feet from any energized overhead line is maintained. This clearance distance must be increased by 4 inches for every 10 kilovolts over 50 kilovolts.
