Rhome is a very rural community, so there is lots of land everywhere you go. But it is a very quiet city, with little economic growth. Rhome will begin to further expand with expansion coming from the texas motor speedway. I have enjoyed my life living here.
In 2022, Rhome, TX had a population of 1.84k people with a median age of 33.4 and a median household income of $85,625. Between 2021 and 2022 the population of Rhome, TX grew from 1,774 to 1,838, a 3.61% increase and its median household income grew from $78,365 to $85,625, a 9.26% increase.
The City of Rhome was incorporated in 1942. However, the history of settlers in the area dates back to the 1850s when a community known as Prairie Point was established by a group of settlers from Missouri. Prairie Point, near present-day Rhome, was established at the crossroads of two stagecoach lines.
Dont set off fireworks within the city limits. Dont openly burn trash/wood/paper in the backyard or in a fire ring. Open burning is not allowed. Dont keep poisonous reptiles or exotic pets in the city limits (we and your neighbors thank you).
By 1863 Prairie Point was virtually deserted. By 1882 the Fort Worth and Denver City Railway had laid tracks nearby, and by 1883 the new settlement was named Rhome, in honor of Col. Byron Crandall Rhome, a prominent local rancher who was credited with bringing the first Hereford cattle to Wise County.

The first cattle raising in Texas appeared in the Rio Grande Valley. By 1680, there were several thousand cattle recorded in the El Paso region. The earliest ranches were those of Spanish missionaries. By the mid-18th century, these were joined by competing private ranches.
