The Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Training Program (EVITP) provides training and certification for electricians installing electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE).
To be eligible for EVITP, a participant must be a state licensed or certified electrician. If the participant works in a state that does not license or docHub electricians, the participant must provide documentation of a minimum of 8,000 hours of hands-on electrical construction experience.
The genesis of EVITP began in 2011, when key stakeholders in the EV industry automakers, utility companies and charging station manufacturers teamed with the electrical industry and the Electrical Connection IBEW/NECA partnership.
New one- and two-unit single family dwellings or townhouses with attached private garages must have electrical conduit installed that is capable of supporting a Level 2 EV charging station. For new multifamily dwellings and hotels, 10% of parking spaces must be EV-capable and 25% of parking spaces must be EV-ready.
Electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) supplies electricity to an electric vehicle (EV). Commonly called charging stations or charging docks, they provide electric power to the vehicle and use that to recharge the vehicles batteries.
