The Dallas-based developers and investors said they will undertake a $350M redevelopment of the property that will include the addition of a 300-room luxury hotel and streetscape improvements to the associated city blocks. We didnt just want to buy the building to buy the building, Hoque told D CEO.
The building was developed by Cousins Properties and designed by the architectural firm Kevin Roche John Dinkeloo and Associates LLC. Designed in the Postmodern style reminiscent of Art Deco, it was built in only 14 months, one of the fastest construction schedules for any 1,000 ft (300 m) building.
Bank of America Plaza is a 72-story, 280.7 m (921 ft) late-modernist skyscraper located in the Main Street District in the citys downtown core in Dallas, Texas, United States. It is the tallest skyscraper in the city, the 3rd tallest in Texas and the 45th tallest in the United States.
Due to the green lighting, the building is often referred to as The Pickle. Green was chosen over red or blue because it is more visible from a distance. It has also been reported that the second tower, if built would have been accented with purple lighting (often called The Eggplant).
