What are the requirements for Driver Education in Wisconsin? Young people under the age of 18 must complete 30 hours of Classroom instruction, 12 hours of Behind-the-Wheel training, and all Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) requirements.
Drivers Education Online ONLY This State of Wisconsin DOT-approved course option includes 30 hours of online classroom instruction. The cost is $99 and it can be started at anytime. You must be 14 1/2 years old to sign up for this course.
To start a school, you will need the following: School name approval - School name must be approved prior to submitting application. Study the Driver Training School and Instructor Guidelines and pass the driver training school owner/manager exam at a Wisconsin DMV Service Center.
Driver education requirements include a minimum of 30 hours of classroom time, a minimum of six hours of behind-the-wheel driver education training and six hours of observation time. Some driver education programs include additional hours.
A driver with an instruction permit may only drive when accompanied by a person with two years driving experience who holds a valid, regular license (not a probationary or occupational license) and who sits in the front passenger seat and is one of the following: A qualified instructor 19 years old or older​.
