It usually takes a minimum of 12 weeks to complete a report; however, some cases may take longer depending upon the need for additional testing and/or investigation. Please do not send any requests before 12 weeks as we cannot accept any public information requests for open cases.
You may also submit a written request to obtain the cause and manner of death either by fax to (512) 854-9044 or by email to merequests@traviscountytx.gov. Will an autopsy report be available? You can e-mail your request with the same information listed above to: merequests@traviscountytx.gov.
You must be the legal next-of-kin in order to obtain an autopsy report. The final report is available at no charge to the legal next-of-kin (if record is older than 5 years, a pre-payment of $150.00 is required).
