Guidelines. Burning will be allowed between the hours of 8 am to midnight daily. Only clean, dry, natural wood can be burned; treated or painted wood, plastic, rubber, leaves and grass are not allowed to be burned. The fire shall not exceed 3 feet in diameter with a flame height of 2 feet maximum.
Portable fire pits must be located a minimum of 15 feet away from any structure or combustible material. The fire must be constantly attended and supervised until the fire has been completely extinguished. A portable fire extinguisher, or other approved extinguishing equipment (garden hose), must be readily available.
Campfires. If you are burning in a campfire ring or fire pit with the intent to eliminate debris, a DNR burning permit is required.
