The parties may stipulate without leave of court to one 15-day extension beyond the 30-day time period prescribed for the response after service of the initial complaint. The court, on its own motion or on the application of a party, may extend or otherwise modify the times provided in (b)-(d).
If a party fails to file the brief as specified in a notice under (a), the court may impose the sanction specified in the notice. (Subd (c) amended effective January 1, 2008.) Within the period specified in the notice under (a), a party may apply to the presiding justice for an extension of that period for good cause.
Appeals Civil Case. Either side may appeal the verdict. Criminal Case. The defendant may appeal a guilty verdict, but the government may not appeal if a defendant is found not guilty. Bankruptcy Case. An appeal of a ruling by a bankruptcy judge may be taken to the district court. Other Types of Appeals.
