Californias Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) brings together the states recycling and waste management programs to move the state towards a circular economy that reduces waste and reuses all materials.
If you can earn between five and ten cents per bottle, to make say, $100, you will need around 1000 bottles. This can be very time consuming. Its also important to know the rules of your local center. For example, some centers want the lids off and even labels, so thats important to understand.
You will be paid the full CRV redemption of 5 cents or 10 cents on each container. Inform the site attendant of your load content and how you would like to receive payment before you hand over your load.
Effective, January 1, 2022, SB 1383 requires all residents and businesses to recycle organic material. Organic material is defined as food waste, green waste, landscape and pruning waste, wood and lumber, paper products (printing paper, cardboard, all fiber etc.), manure, biosolids, digestate, and sludge.
When possible, please rinse and drain cans before recycling. Cans with California Redemption Value (CRV) can also be taken to a buyback location. To find one near you, use the search engine found here. Note that it is best not to crush cans before recycling.
