The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is the uniformed, all-volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard. The Auxiliary was created by an Act of Congress in 1939 and has grown to over 32,000 members who daily support the Coast Guard in all its non-military, and non-law-enforcement missions.
To be accepted into the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, you must be at least 17 years old; be a citizen of the U.S. (either by birth or by naturalization); and pass a Personal Security Investigation. Use of the online Enrollment Application form is strongly encouraged.
The average age of an auxiliarist is about 63 years of age and an important fact to consider is that there are numerous ladders (NOT Stairs) that must be negotiated many times throughout the day.
