Knox Church is a reformed body that holds to the essential beliefs of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, including the inerrancy and authority of Holy Scripture, the worship of the Triune God, the person and saving work of Jesus Christ, and the establishment of his body as the church.
John Knox was a prominent religious leader during the Scottish Reformation. He is known for his influence on Protestant theology and Presbyterianism. Knox became a leader in the Scottish Reformation in 1546 before and after being imprisoned and exiled in Europe.
Knox believed that people were in a covenant with God to uphold the rule of godliness and revenge to the uttermost of their power any injuries done against His majesty or laws. Knox viewed the nobility as people who could hold the king accountable.
While in exile, Knox was licensed to work in the Church of England, where he rose in the ranks to serve King Edward VI of England as a royal chaplain. He exerted a reforming influence on the text of the Book of Common Prayer. In England, he met and married his first wife, Margery Bowes.
