Texas ChalleNGe Academy is a 5 1/2-month quasi-military residential academy sponsored by the Texas National Guard. We are a tuition free educational program for 15 1/2 to 18-year-old teens who are disengaged in school.
There is NO cost to attend the academy. Uniforms, meals, and linens are provided. Cadets only have to bring personal hygiene items and a pair of running shoes.
How much does it cost? Our program is free. The Department of Defense (DoD) and the State of California split the $22,000 cost per cadet with the split being 75% funded by the DoD and 25% funded by the State of California. There is some minimal cost associated with attendance.
About Commonwealth ChalleNGe Youth Academy The Virginia Commonwealth ChalleNGe Youth Academy is a 29-and-a-half-month program, which includes a five-and-a-half month residential phase, followed by a 24-month post-residential phase.
There is no charge to the families. Tuition, room and board, and books are provided at no cost to the family. Commonwealth ChalleNGe is funded through the federal and state governments. Commonwealth ChalleNGe opened its doors in July of 1994.
