The Berkeley Law Public Interest Scholars Program is a three-year scholarship covering full tuition and fees for J.D. students dedicated to public interest work. As part of its public mission and commitment to public interest students, Berkeley Law admitted the first class of Public Interest Scholars in 2021.
A visiting scholar appointment allows individuals with a Ph. D. (or the terminal degree in their field) earned more than 5 years ago the chance to participate in short-term educational or research projects under the supervision or sponsorship of a UC Berkeley faculty member.
Such an invitation is often regarded as recognizing the scholars prominence in the field. Attracting prominent visiting scholars often allows the permanent faculty and graduate students to cooperate with prominent academics from other institutions, especially foreign ones.
The above statistics show that UC Berkeley Law School typically admits students with LSAT scores ranging from 167 (25th percentile) to 172 (75th percentile), with a median of 170. For GPA, admitted students typically have undergraduate GPAs ranging from 3.80 to 3.95, with a median of 3.87.
