Eighth grade students are ineligible to participate at the high school level until the NMAA has confirmed receipt of this form. An eighth grade student who participates in high school athletics, at any level of competition, will make his/her Open Enrollment Choice at the eighth grade level.
Combining contests in both the middle level and high school level, an eighth grader may participate in up to the maximum number of high school contests. Also refer to the specific sport sections in this WIAA handbook to verify daily, weekly or season limitations.
The game officials have the authority to eject a player, coach or team representative for misconduct or unsportsmanlike conduct. The offending individual must leave the field and dugout area immediately and is not allowed to communicate with the teams or umpires.
Students in any 6th, 7th, or 8th grades of any school (Jr. High or Sr. High) who play on 9th grade or so-called freshman or sophomore, junior varsity and varsity teams will be ineligible at the conclusion of eight consecutive semesters of such participation.
Junior Varsity is a developmental team for underclassmen. Seniors must play varsity except in the case where there are not enough players to field a viable JV squad.
