How does a horse qualify for a point-to-point?

Thereafter, every Season, in order to participate in Point-to-Point Steeple Chases, the horse must be registered with a Hunters Certificate which affiliates the horse and owner to a Hunt and an area of the country.

What age should a child start pointing?

Cheer your baby on when you see them. Remember that children develop at different speeds. Most children begin to point between 9 and 14 months of age. If your child isnt pointing by 18 months, let their health care provider know.

How much is a point-to-point horse?

A standard point-to-pointer can cost anywhere between 600 to 3000, but a lot of people will pay a lot more in the hope or expectation of obtaining a very good horse. After that initial outlay there are training fees to include, which depending on the trainer these can vary from 150 to 250 a week.

How do you become a point-to-point rider?

To ride in Point-to-Points you must be at least 16 years old and the holder of a Riders Qualification Certificate (RQC), which is issued by the Point-to-Point Authority. Budding Riders under the age of 16 can also get involved through Pony Racing - contact details for Pony Racing can be found in the Whos Who section.

How do I get a RQC?

You are only eligible to apply for an RQC if you are one of the following of a Hunt: a Master, a Member, a Subscriber, a Farmer, a Son/Daughter/Spouse of a Master/Member/Subscriber or Farmer, or a Person who has paid a One Day Cap. There are two types of RQC: a Full Certificate and a Hunt Members Race certificate.
