The MenB vaccine is not routinely recommended for college students. However, some colleges and universities require MenB vaccination for incoming students. While small outbreaks of meningococcal serogroup B disease have occurred on college campuses, the disease incidence in college students remains very low.
MENVEO is a vaccine indicated for active immunization to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135 in individuals 2 months through 55 years of age.
For age 2 through 6 months Give 3 doses of Menveo, 8 weeks apart, and a 4th dose at age 1218 months. If possible vaccination should begin at age 2 months. If primary vaccination is completed before the 7th birthday: give one booster dose 3 years after primary series, then every 5 years thereafter.
MENVEO is a vaccine indicated for active immunization to prevent invasive meningococcal disease caused by Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y, and W-135 in individuals 2 months through 55 years of age. MENVEO does not prevent N. meningitidis serogroup B infections.
Who should get the vaccine? Meningococcal vaccine called MenACWY is recommended for all preteens at 11 to 12 years old and all teens at 16 years old. Teens and young adults age 16 through 23 years may choose to get a MenB vaccine after talking with their healthcare provider.
