The DASS 21 measures symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress [4]. It comprises three subscales that each has seven items: depression (DASS 21-D), anxiety (DASS 21-A), and stress (DASS 21-S). Each item is scored on a 4-point Likert scale ranging from 0 (did not apply to me at all) to 3 (applied to me very much).
DASS-21 Scoring Interpretation Scores are presented as a total score (between 0 and 63) and a score for the three subscales (between 0 and 21). In addition, percentiles are computed based on a community samples (Henry Crawford, 2005; Lovibond Lovibond, 1995).
Nevertheless, it is a useful tool for screening and assessment. For all questions, the client circles the answer truest to them in the past week. Scores are summed for each scale (D = Depression, A = Anxiety, S = Stress), and the total for each scale multiplied by 2.
