What is Honours Arts? Honours Arts is a direct-entry program to the Faculty of Arts at Lauriers Waterloo campus. Direct entry means you begin studying in this program when you first start your classes at Laurier. At the end of your first year, you can choose to major in a different program in the Faculty of Arts.
An honours degree program must consist of a minimum of 20.0 credits, including at least 9.0 senior credits in the major or at least 6.0 senior credits in each of two combined majors at the honours level. Individual departments may require more than this minimum.
A joint honours degree allows you to study more than one subject and combine them into a single qualification. For example, you could study a subject you excelled at in school or college, but combine it with a new subject. With a joint honours degree youll study each subject equally.
A BA offers broader education, while a BA (Honours) focuses on specialisation. Choose the honours degree for expertise in a subject or postgraduate goals.
The BA (Joint-Honours) is a pathway toward a career in primary or secondary school teaching. You will study three subjects in First Year and then pursue two of the subjects you pass in first year to degree level.
