Under the JCNDEs Five Years/Five Attempts Eligibility Rule, candidates must pass the examination within a) five years of their first attempt or b) five examination attempts, whichever comes first.
If you forgo the NBDE Part II and test on the INBDE, you will have five test attempts on the INBDE. If you are unsuccessful on the INBDE, you will not be permitted to test on the NBDE Part II.

One of the biggest differences between the INBDE and NBDE is the Patient Box, a new item presentation format. A Patient Box contains patient case information that would be available to the dentist and dental hygienist during their visit.
Retaking the NBDHE If you did not pass the exam, you must wait at least 60 days before applying for retesting. You may take the exam up to four times in one year, after which the waiting period between retakes increases to 12 months.
How long are NBDE results valid? NBDE results provided by the ADA do not have an expiration date, rather, individual ADEA CAAPID programs may specify date parameters regarding the exam results.
