To Ask for a Hearing: A request for an administrative hearing must be made in writing and signed by you or someone authorized to act on your behalf. For convenience, MDHHS provides a hearing request form that you should bring or mail to your MDHHS office (no faxes or photocopies).
If it has been more than seven years since the last time your driver license was revoked, then you will only have to wait one year. However, if your last drivers license revocation has been revoked within the past seven years, then you will have to wait a full five years.
A hearing request must be accompanied by a $50 filing fee. Please submit the fee in the form of a check or money order payable to the Secretary of State. CASH IS NOT ACCEPTED. Please mail this form, along with the filing fee, to the location where you would like a hearing.
You will have 14 days to respond and resolve the issue, and then the court will notify the Secretary of State. Once the Secretary of State has been notified, then they will immediately suspend your drivers license. After your license is suspended, it will remain suspended indefinitely.
Driving on a suspended or revoked license in Michigan is a misdemeanor offense. If this is a first offense of this nature, you face a potential sentence of up to 93 days in jail and up to $500.
