LETA Training Officer Training at the academy began in 1998. The MDCC LETA provides areas of training for Basic (480 hours), Refresher (200 hours), in-service and advanced training. The 12-week Basic class is hosted on the MDCC main campus located on Highway 3, in Moorhead, Mississippi.
Must successfully complete training from the State Law Enforcement Academy. Must successfully complete the Field Training Officer Program. Good physical condition as evidenced by successfully passing a physical test based upon the Mississippi State Law Enforcement Academys physical assessment. Must be 21 years of age.
Full-time basic academy tuition is $4,000.00 per student officer. Payment is made in the form of a department or bank-certified check made payable to MLEOTA.
Minimum age requirements for law enforcement candidates No minimum age requirements the state of Louisiana has no listed age restrictions for its prospective law enforcement candidates; 18 years old is the requirement for Montana, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin; 19 years old is the requirement for Florida;
New recruits undergo 16 weeks of intensive Basic Law Enforcement Academy Training (BLET) and an Intensive Physical Fitness Program. This training is followed by a 12-week period of field training and then job training and evaluation with a field training officer.
