Serving court documents or service is when you give a copy of all the documents in your case to the other person in your case, who is known as the other party. You have to serve your documents to the other party because that person has a right to: know about a case that has started against them.
Serving papers on another person is an official handing over of documents. Papers must be served on any other person who is involved in the law suit or who the law requires get the papers. This lets the person(s) in the case know what you are telling the court and what you are asking court to do.
Resisting service of process with physical force is a third degree felony in the state of Florida. And, again, service of process will be considered complete, even if the individual refuses to physically take the papers.
You cannot serve these papers on the other party yourself or by mail or hand delivery. Personal service must be made by the sheriffs department in the county where the other party lives or works or by a private process server certified in the county where the other party lives or works.

Note that under Florida law, service of process must be completed by the Sheriff in the county where the defendant can be located. However, a sheriff can establish a list of people designated as process servers. These individuals are certified and appointed by the Sheriff to carry out these duties.
Process Servers are people who deliver court documents for a living, partiuclarly the summons and complaint necessary to start a trial. See Service of Process; Civil Procedure. Some specialize in delivering papers to defendants who are deliberately trying to evade service of process.
Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 106 requires that the process server first try to deliver the papers in person or by certified mail. You can ask the court to serve them in another way if trying to serve them in person or by certified mail didnt work. Texas rules now let you serve people by e-mail or even social media.
In Florida, the sheriff serves process in the county where the person to be served is found. Florida law lets the sheriff designate special process servers in their county. The minimum requirements for a special process server are: At least 18 years old.
Personal Service: You can tell someone else to personally deliver or serve the copies. The server must be older than 18 and may not be a party in the case. The server must then complete and sign the back of the original summons form and return it to you so you can file it with the court.
