Delinquency records are open to the public for those juveniles who were born after 1-1-1977. All other requests for information from delinquency files must be ordered by the Court. Guardianship and emancipation cases are open to the public unless ordered sealed by the court.
Juvenile records are sealed automatically the later of one year after turning 18 or one year after juvenile or personal jurisdiction is terminated. If a proceeding is transferred to adult court, records are not automatically sealed. Records of violent or felonious offenses may be made available to the public.
In proceedings under this act the following juvenile courtroom proceedings and records shall be open to the public: all proceedings against a juvenile offender of the age of fourteen (14) years or older and who is petitioned or charged with an offense which would be a felony if committed by an adult including the court
