Graduating with honors is a tribute that recognizes academic achievement and represents a students entire academic history. Consideration for honors is based on the following criteria: Have at least a 3.5 cumulative UAF GPA. UAF resident credit of 30 semester hours for a bachelors degree.
Honors will be calculated based on the Final Cumulative GPA, which includes all hours attempted with Troy and all transfer credit, excluding developmental courses. To be eligible for graduation honors, students must have earned a minimum of 30 semester hours of non-pass/fail work at Troy University.
Troy University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, educational specialist, and doctoral degrees. Troy University also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels.
In general, though, summa cum laude is based on a students grade point average. Usually, it has to be high: 3.9 or above. A students class rank, number of course hours completed, and requirements such as a thesis or senior project, might also be part of the qualifications for a summa cum laude.
