The UDEE was developed to assess the range of skills and abilities required for successful performance in the Uniformed Division (UD) Officer position. It is a computer-based exam consisting of multiple-choice questions. The entire testing time, including breaks, will not exceed 3 hours and 45 minutes.
Is it hard to get into the Secret Service? Yes, the selection process is highly competitive and rigorous, requiring candidates to pass multiple stages of testing, interviews, and background checks.
If you do not report to take the UDEE, or you fail the exam, there is a three-month waiting period before you can reapply and retest. This includes applying to multiple job opportunity announcements; only the first test score will be applied.
It is a challenging exam, including a total of 300 questions and taking up 3 hours and 45 minutes (including breaks), and is comprised of 6 sections: Critical Thinking - 23 questions in 30 minutes. Situational Judgment - 82 questions in 34 minutes. Memory Skills - 12 questions in 8 minutes.
Failing an exam will rarely mean that you fail your degree. Instead, a failed exam usually indicates that you still need to master certain aspects of your subject or that you need to reexamine your priorities. This might mean retaking the exam after studying more or different parts of the material.
