If you are a funeral director, it is important to understand that requesting a DD214 or other discharge document is not something you can do.
Upon the familys request, Public Law 106-65 requires that every eligible Veteran receive a military funeral honors ceremony. For assistance please contact Military OneSource at 800-342-9647.
At any military funeral, shots fired are part of the three-volley salute after the death of a veteran. All gun salutes need not amount to twenty-one shots and may depend on a specific hierarchy based on status or rank.
