To register a snowmobile for the first time, you must provide the make, model, year, serial number, and engine size (measured in horsepower or ccs). The owner must also present a store receipt as proof of sales tax payment. If the snow mobile was purchased from a private party, no sales tax is required.
You must download your temporary registration (as a PDF) at the end of this transaction. You cannot come back and download it later. If you have a current, valid New York State Snowmobile Association (NYSSA) voucher, the fee for your registration is $65. If you do not have an NYSSA voucher, the fee is $135.
To register your snowmobile, you must submit a snowmobile application, required documents and the appropriate fee.
