The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) is a federal/state program designed to obtain, maintain, and advance employment for people with disabilities by working with DVR consumers, employers, and other partners.
The primary goal of vocational rehabilitation is to assist individuals with functional, physical, or cognitive limitations to find and maintain employment. As such, a vocational rehabilitation expert can help these individuals overcome these limitations and ultimately improve their quality of life.
Who is eligible? To qualify for VR services, an individual must: Have a physical or mental impairment that presents a substantial barrier to employment; and be able to benefit from VR services to achieve employment. Need VR services to prepare for a job, or to get, keep, or regain a job.
An individual should be referred to DVR services when: The individual has a disability or perceived barriers to employment. The individual is interested in gaining competitive and integrated employment. They have been informed of potential DVR services and are interested in applying for services.
The rehabilitation review allows a caregiver or resident to give evidence that: The person is not likely to do what led to the conviction(s) or finding(s) again, And clients will be safe under the persons care.
