Grand Jurors are compensated fifteen dollars per day for each days attendance as a grand juror. In addition, jurors are reimbursed for mileage.
The Criminal Grand Jury consists of 23 members and a designated number of alternates. It is impaneled monthly and the term of service is typically 30 calendar days unless otherwise required by the District Attorneys Office.
Courtroom Requirements We suggest you wear comfortable clothing that fits with the importance and dignity of the courtroom. Shorts, tank tops, bare midriffs, or similar dress are not allowed. Business attire is always appropriate. Check your summons or local jury office for more information.
Trial duration There can be a wide variance, but the average jury trial is approximately 5 days, depending upon the type and complexity of the case before the jury. Once the trial has concluded, this will fulfill your obligation for jury service for one year.
Report to the Superior Court Building four days per week, five hours per day. Grand Jurors serve approximately 180 days per fiscal year July to June. Each Juror receives a stipend of $30 per day plus mileage subject to change.
