Adult volunteers must register in the position(s) they are serving in and be approved by their charter partner where applicable. For example, a parent attending a Scouts BSA campout could register as a committee member, unit Scouter reserve, Assistant Scoutmaster etc, depending on their unit role.
However, parental involvement is not forbidden and all meetings should be open to your participation. If you would like to be present at a den meeting, ask the den leader in advance so that the leader can plan a way for you to observe or participate in an unobtrusive manner.
Started in 1910, Camp Fire now has 1,300 program sites across the nation. Find an affiliate or program near you.
Youth who are not registered in the unit may not accompany parents or siblings in camping programs of Scouts BSA*, Venturing, and Sea Scouting. For example, siblings who are not registered in the specific Troop may not attend Scouts BSA Troop campouts as part of a family camp.
Any parent at a meeting, or diving/supervising multiple girls on a field trip, must be a registered and background checked Girl Scouts member. Frankly, many leaders find this kind of participation to be problematic. When there ae multiple parents sitting around, it is distracting for the girls.

Emergency Response Never leave a campfire unattended. Prepare a unit fireguard, and practice it. Always have a shovel/rake and water or other extinguishing materials handy. Be prepared to respond to burns or someone on fire with Stop, drop, and roll.
Camporees are held on a council or district basis. They may be held at any time of the year. Camporee programs may include contests and demonstrations of outdoor Scouting skills as well as campfires, games, and field events. These activities can show Scouting at its best.
Also, National Boy Scout rules say that parents (not just fathers) are welcome to all scouting events, including camping. We have scouts from single parent homes, from divorced homes (split custody), and intact families. All are welcome.
